I always say that style is not defined by designer labels but by the ability to look great on a budget. Once a year on Black Friday masses of people camp out, wait in line for hours and stay up all night just to get the best bargains. Although this is the biggest shopping day of the year, you don't have to wait until November to get amazing prices on cute clothes. I was inspired to do a post on sale hunting when I snagged this adorable leopard print dress from H&M for only $10! Not only did it feed my animal print obsession but it fit so well I would've spent double if I had to.  I'm a natural when it comes to finding the cutest clothes on sale so I wanted to share my top tips to getting great deals when wardrobe shopping.

1. Know where to go. There are certain stores I frequent for good deals on quality clothes. Some of my favorites are H&M, Nordstrom Rack & Marshals. All these stores have discounted name brands that are fractions cheaper in comparison to big department stores.

2. Be willing to wait for the item to go on sale. Ever found a piece of clothing you fell in love with but hated the price tag? I’ve been there many times so instead of spending your last bucks on your new favorite shoes, wait it out a little bit. The item may go on sale within the next few weeks.

3. Try on everything! Waiting in line for the fitting room can be the most annoying part of shopping, but it’s a step you shouldn't skip. Because each store has different return policies, it’s important to make sure the item fits before you leave the store. Some stores will let you return anything even without a receipt while others have a no refund and exchange only policy.

4. Be willing to compromise & be flexible. You may be looking for a black dress but may find a really cute dress in navy blue. The more open you are when shopping the more likely you are to score a better deal.

5. Recognize an outfit from head to toe may have to be bought at different times versus all in one day. This tip is all about planning. Looking for a dress, shoes, purse and jewelry to match all in one shopping trip is a perfect way to spend more then necessary. If you have an event to attend & are looking for a specific outfit, plan weeks ahead so you can shop around a different stores & look for the best prices. When you are in a rush & need an outfit in a hurry, you always end up spending more.

6. Be open to consignment shops. High quality consignment shops are the new thing in fashion. There are so many shops with gently used clothing for whatever you clothing taste or lifestyle. I’ve seen shops for teens, high end designer clothes, maternity clothes, professional work wear etc. Search your local stores for consignment shops for whatever you’re looking for to get bargain prices.

7.  Use coupons from your local paper or get a coupon app. Remember I talked about the best shopping app for coupons on clothes here? I've used coupons to save extra money on items that were even already on sale. An extra 10% off of an item that's already marked down can make a huge difference in the amount you end up paying.

8. Catch the end of the season sales. Every store has a sale when new seasons are around the corner. At the end of each season stores mark down everything that's left because the next season’s merchandise has come in. So, be open to winter shopping when the temperatures are hot & summer shopping when it's snowing outside, it will save you a lot more money then you think.

With this list of tips I’m sure your next shopping trip will save you more money and keep you on your budget. Let me know some of your budget friendly shopping tips in the comments.
