If there’s one thing I love its discovering that one piece of clothing can be worn multiple ways to achieve totally different looks. It's like finding a style gold mine to know that one item can be worn over and over & look different each time. You might vote the average scarf as the least versatile piece of clothing this fall, but I'm here to show you otherwise.
As a wardrobe staple for colder weather its almost guaranteed that we all have them & we all wear them the same boring way all season. I often say that a great outfit begins when creativity & taking a style risk come together; so after experimenting & getting inspiration from the Burberry runway, I came up with 3 completely different looks using 1 scarf.  All you need is a long sheer fabric scarf and you can duplicate each look using the tips below.

 1. The belted scarf look. Think of this as the updated, much cooler version of a shawl. Here's how to achieve this look: wrap your scarf around your shoulders like a shawl, wrap the scarf around your arms leaving the ends to hang down your torso & belt it around your waist. It can double as outerwear & gives a nice layered look that you can take on & off at a moments notice.

2. The regular scarf around the neck. Yes it's basic but we all need to wear a scarf this way sometimes. I used to just loop it around my neck a few times but I found an interesting way to mimic the "infinity scarf" look that's so popular these days. Tie the ends of your scarf together, then circle it around your neck a few times. This gives you that layered clean look without being too bulky & sloppy.

3. The Turban- OK I'll admit, this is my favorite scarf look. I found a really easy tutorial here  on how to turn the average scarf into a turban. Turbans are now a cool trend & have been seen on celebrities and the runways. Not only does adding a turban up the cool factor of your look but it's an automatic hat to keep you warm this winter & the perfect option for a bad hair day. I'm in love w this look so rest assured that more turban looks will be coming soon on the blog.

So did you know a scarf could play so many roles in your closet? It's easy to think of certain pieces as one dimensional when you're getting dressed but I am here to expand your wardrobe mind :) Do you plan on trying any of these looks? 2. I too like the turban. It brings back memories of the 70's when a "head wrap" allowed you to dress up and switch from just wearing an afro hair style. Nothing is new under the sun!
