December: the month of snow, Christmas shopping, mistletoe and holiday festivities. Being the ultimate girly girl, I look forward to any event that I can put on a fancy fit; and since I won’t be attending the Emmys or Oscars any time soon, holiday parties are my only chance to throw on something sparkly.
Whether it’s a Christmas party, your company holiday party or NYE party, the biggest question is "What am I going to wear?" As I have shown above, my perfect holiday outfit is sequins!! Specifically this oversized sequins shirt I turned into a wrap dress by pairing it with a skinny belt. Since my "faux" dress is full of sparkles & a true show stopper, I kept the accessories simple to let the dress be the focus & avoid sparkle overload.
Now that I have found my perfect holiday dress, you may still be wondering what you can pull together for your upcoming festivities. So, as your holiday party invites roll in, I’ve taken the guessing game out of what to wear by narrowing it down to two choices. Here are 2 easy options to get you dressed to impress for the holiday party season.
Option 1-Easy breezy- For anyone that likes a more minimalistic look & doesn’t want to be too extravagant- Choose a simple/plain outfit (LBD, pants suit etc.) and pair it with big fancy accessories. This is a great option if you are limited on cash, creativity or just don’t want to be too fancy. As a jewelry designer I’ll go to my grave saying that Accessories can transform any outfit; and this is perfectly illustrated here. A plain old dress can be transformed into a fancy holiday look with the right jewelry and accessories. So if you are going to a last minute party or just don’t feel like wearing a full on sequins dress like me, a little black dress (or any other color) paired with a fancy statement necklace & the right shoes and clutch can take you from boring to glitz and glam in no time.
Option 2- My time to shine- For all the sequins and gown lovers like myself that are going for a true show stopper look-Choose a Fancy dress or pants and pair it with basic accessories. When you wear sequins, metallics or any other elaborate outfit it’s always best to go with the simple accessories including your jewelry, bag and shoes. Stick with minimal jewelry and muted shoes and purse to make sure that your statement clothing is not competing with your accessories.
Now, wasn’t that easy? A plain dress (which you probably already have in your closet) with statement accessories, or a fancy statement outfit with simple accessories and you are ready to be one of the best dressed at your event.
