You know those days when you roll out of bed with an errand list a mile long but all you want to do is stay in your pajamas & slippers all day?  Those are called the lazy style days & we all deserve a few every now and then. As a fashion loving gal I’m usually pretty excited about putting on a pair of heels & a killer outfit, but those lazy style days call for a comfy yet stylish combo that’s easy to put together & doesn’t involve the dreaded sweatpants or any other comfy wardrobe violation.

I was recently asked if I ever wear anything casual and although on the blog i'm often in heels, and sometimes fancy fits, don’t let that fool you! I do wear casual clothes and also own

an impressive collection of flats that take up major space in my closet. One misconception people often have with fashion is that you have to be “dressed up” to be in style; but there is a way to pull off a fashionable fit that doesn’t require walking in stilletos or adjusting you spanx under a form fitting dress. Staying stylish is not always about how high your heels are or how fancy your dress is, but It’s more about dressing well & flattering your shape whether you’re in flats, heels, jeans or a skirt.

When I think about the perfect casually stylish outfit its all about combining style and comfort. Perfect for those weekends when you’re running errands or going to grab brunch with friends, finding the fine line of comfort and style can be a challenging feat, but I’m convinced I've found the perfect combination.

Keep reading as I reveal 3 pieces I grab for an easy outfit combining both comfort and style.

    1. Leggings-  Leggings are often the ugly step child in the fashion world. They receive a lot of hate because of their no effort look along with the fact that they are often seen in many epic wardrobe malfunctions. But I like leggings because they can look good on many body types and they are so comfortable they can double as lounge/workout clothes so they are extremely versatile. The key is wearing them correctly. Most people would have never guessed that I have on leggings in the pictures above and that’s because there are two secrets to upgrading the look of your leggings
    • 1. Make sure they aren’t too tight!!! Leggings are supposed to be comfortable so make sure you are in the right size & they are also thick enough to not look like stockings!!!
    •  2. Pair them with a longer shirt or jacket. Short shirts or jackets are for jeans, not leggings; so stay away from short shirts or wear a longer jacket or cardigan over the shirt like I did with the boyfriend coat above.  Don’t underestimate this step-sister in style, with the right guidelines leggings can easily be  camouflaged within a chic outfit to keep you super comfortable.
       2.  Flat/low heel Knee boots. Flat knee boots are like the cell phone- how did we ever survive without them? This is my favorite foot wear for winter time style & comfort. A good leather knee boot can take you from extremely casual all the way to dressed up (see how I wore them with a little black dress here). They are perfect for the person that hates high heels or the person like me who loves heels but needs a break every once in a while and still wants to look chic. I suggest if you don’t already have these footwear staples that you invest in a pair (or two). The versatility alone will make your purchase well worth it.
      3. A nice classic jacket, coat or shirt. When you are the wearing the ultimate comfort pieces like leggings & flat shoes it’s always good to add one polished piece to give your outfit a little more class & sophistication. It’s the one piece in your outfit that will push your look over from basic to chic. My favorite boyfriend coat served this purpose for me in the pictures above but it can be substituted for a blazer or any other type of classic shirt or jacket.

Combine these three pieces and you have just pulled off the ultimate fashion dilemma of a casual chic outfit that’s high on comfort and style and low on fuss and preparation. Let me know in the comments your version of a casual and stylish outfit.
