Remember when wearing anything shiny or sparkly was
reserved for “after 5”? Or when wearing gold meant you were headed to a formal event or a disco party? Well these fashion rules have changed; and just like the "no white after Labor Day" rule, wearing metallics is now approved for work, weekends and anywhere in between. Metallic color clothes and accessories have taken the crown for the new neutral; not just because they're in style but because they are also surprisingly versatile.
You may be surprised to hear this fashion fact, but just like black and white, metallics go with almost any color. Metallic clothing & accessories (gold, silver, rose gold etc.) are the new neutral that can be seen on everything from shoes to shirts to dresses. Though we often associate metal colors with jewelry, the metal hues have taken over in the fashion world. My gold shorts shown above are the perfect piece for spring and can be dressed up or down. Reminiscent of the gold pants I wore here, it's safe to say I'm loving the metallic trend. Interested in wearing metallics but don't know where to start? Here’s a few quick tips:
- The Most popular metallic fashion piece these days are shoes. Metallic shoes are everywhere and are available in heels, tennis shoes and especially popular in flats & metallic shoes are one of the easiest ways to add a little shine & style to your outfit.
- Metallics match with EVERYTHING. Treat your gold, silver or rose gold pieces as a neutral. They go well with pretty much any color but they work especially well with other basic/neutral tones- blue, white, black & brown.

- Metallics are extremely versatile and can be worn for work wear, a formal event or just as casual weekend. Take a look at the collage below to see the versatility.
