Like a movie preview, the runway is an overstated, often over exaggerated way to get a glimpse of the next everyday fashion trends that you will soon be in the stores. The runway gives us a dramatic look at how to wear the latest "it" gear and how to style the latest pieces; and with New York fashion week now behind us, we got a glimpse into what “hot” for fall & winter 2015.
One thing that stood out to me was the crazy amount of prints that were showcased in many of the designers shows. Last week I did a YouTube video about incorporating prints & patterns in your wardrobe, so as you see , prints carry a special place in my stylish heart. As an owner of every print ever imaginable, I was excited to see that my love for prints translated through the coats, skirts and quirky yet stylish ensembles highlighted in many of the runway shows.
My interpretation of the runway prints came with the most perfect tribal skirt worn above. I fell in love with the tribal print skirt & surprisingly found it for under $20. Tribal prints have been really big in fashion and have given the famous African ankara fabric a place in fashion that no one truly ever predicted. I paired the tribal skirt with stripes which have proven to be the go to choice for print mixing. And since its still 80 degrees out here in the Midwest, I'm holding onto summer as long as I can and getting as many bare leg days in as possible. (Next weeks blog will be my fall outfits video so don't forget to subscribe!)
So, if you missed fashion week, look no further.. the top 5 prints listed below will take you through the fall & winter fashion seasons of 2015 & 2016 in style:
