Out of all the fashion rules, tips & guidelines I constantly "preach" one of the most important is to be open to try something new. And although I am somewhat of an expert in the style field I still have to remind myself of the 20 commandments of style that are ingrained in my brain. I love sweaters in the fall and winter but I've never worn one quite like this. An extra large sweater, belted & turned into a dress? This was new for me... and as a result of trying something new I loved it! I was inspired by a fellow blogger I love to turn a huge shirt into a dress . A fashion experiment gone right if I must say so myself. So, in the spirit of sweater weather, I'm giving a breakdown of 4 sweaters that will get you through the fall & winter below.
1. A sweater dress
Whether it's a traditional sweater dress or a makeshift one like I wore above, a sweater dress is a nice essential for cooler temperatures. It's the winter equivalent to summer's sun dress & can be rocked with bare legs or tights & boots when it gets colder.
2. A turtleneck
I have spoken many times about my love for the turtleneck. Turtlenecks have always been a must for the classy chic trendsetters. Back in the day Audrey Hepburn popularized the classic black turtleneck, which is one of my current winter staples.
3. A Cardigan
I love a cardigan & often wear them at my 9-5. A cardigan is a simple way to add a bit of preppy sophistication to anything from jeans to a dress (think J Crew and Gap).
4. A classic knit sweater
Perfect for layering, a comfy knit sweater is an essential part of the winter wardrobe. It's versatile and can be worn super casual with leggings and boots or dressed up with a skirt or over a dress.
