As much as I'm in love with summer, the extreme heat has caused me to mix & remix my shorts and skirt collection over & over again. I'm in love my denim cut offs because they were a D.I.Y. experiment gone right, I gained a new wardrobe item from an old pair of jeans and most importantly, I can wear them so many different ways.
When you think of shorts, it often brings to mind t shirts and tennis shoes or flip flops for suitable items to pair them with. But, when you learn how to maximize your wardrobe pieces AND stay stylish AND cool in the hot months, you learn that shorts are not just for play & can be dressed up just as easy as a pair of jeans. How? Glad you asked. Check out my list of the 4 unexpected ways to style your shorts this season...
1.Pair it with a sleeveless vest. The sleeveless vest is a perfect way to dress up a pair of shorts and stay cool. Denim, Leather or cotton, a vest adds an unexpected sense of style to any basic pair of shorts.
2. Pair it with a Button Up Shirt. Looking for a preppy/ J Crew way to wear your shorts? Pairing shorts with a button up gives it a casual classic look that can even double as work wear when appropriate.
3. Pair it with a Blazer. There's nothing more chic than a short set paired with a blazer. This combination is super stylish and sophisticated!
4. Pair it with a dressy Shirt. Want to automatically upgrade a pair of shorts? A dressy shirt will do it every time. Pair it with heels & you have an automatic outfit for date night or a night out on the town.
